TRY has expanded our program to include a visit to Poland as a part of our ICC curriculum. Designed to incorporate into our studies the dual aspects of seeing the vibrant pulsating center of Jewish life and learning that was Poland pre-Shoah, and internalizing and memorializing the horrific planned annihilation of European Jewry prior to and during the Shoah, the six night trip will mesh perfectly with the existing ICC course.
We will trace and understand the centuries of history and heritage of some of the most outstanding and historically relevant Jewish communities in Poland, exploring the remnants — and, in some cases, the revival — of the Jewish communities in Warsaw, Krakow and Lublin, and broadening an appreciation for Klal Yisrael – the global Jewish community. At the same time, we will use the death camps and concentration camps as our classroom while learning what happened there, and discussing the unanswerable questions that arise. Finally, we will return to our home in Yerushalayim and re-affirm the life that is Judaism today, continuing in ICC to see the revival and declare statehood.
